Colin’s Hope
Business type: Drowning prevention non-profit
Services provided: Homepage copy, referral to Wordpress design/dev
Disclaimer: I sit on the board of directors of this organization, and performed this work pro bono.
Colin’s Hope is a successful non-profit with a small staff who were overwhelmed by the idea of making their homepage more engaging. However, that page really didn’t communicate the mission or the many ways visitors could get involved in an especially effective way. While the staff were excellent at building relationships and partnerships, they realized the website was not helping them do that.
I reframed the homepage messaging to clearly communicate the problem that Colin’s Hope solves, and distill the many tools they provide in a simple-to-understand way. I worked closely with the founders to communicate Colin’s story in a way they were comfortable with, and also captured the language that the executive director was highly invested in. Copywriting by committee is never easy, but we found a solution that everyone was happy with. I also referred them to a graphics designer / WordPress designer who brought the project to life on a reasonable budget.
“‘Super impressed’ are the words that come to mind when I think about working with Casey on revamping our website. We reached out to Casey when we were struggling to figure out why our site was not receiving the traffic or retention that we knew it could. After a brief introductory meeting with Casey, we were presented with a clear vision of how our site could be improved. We were soon reviewing ideas from Casey on how we could convey a more compelling story and make sure our site visitors had clearly defined actionable items. The remainder of the project went equally smooth from selecting a developer, working through the timeline, and final execution to production. We could not be happier with the end results.”
